SOUND PROOFING
I have spotted Japanese uses metal panel to reduce the noise generated from the vehicle at the high way. In Singapore, tree and bushes are used to serve the same purposes. See photo. I think Singaporean are smarter than the Japanese this time.

Think the Japanese's metal barrier may have sound absorbing feature, whereas the Singapore plants divider provides a more scenic view.
