I used to tell my training class how to catch cockroaches and lizards in the home kitchen.To me it was very simple. I bought a cockroach and lizard medicine from supper market and place it over night near the foot path where the insects would pass by.
You would see the results the next day (See photos).
However, my final advice is to keep the kitchen extremely clean so that you would not have this problem.

I agree the best thing to keep insects at bay is to keep the place clean because these pests strive in a dirty environment. As for myself I make sure that all leftover unwanted foods are disposed off and the kitchen kept clean. The end result is that insects, including lizards, would not visit the place.
