ENERGY EFFICIENCY CONFERENCE 国际能源效率研讨会

I attended an International conference on Energy Efficiency organized by Energy Studies Institute and National Environment Agency on 28 and 29 Mar 2008.

It was a very informative and educational conference. A total of 17 papers were presented. The countries participated were Singapore, USA, Japan, New Zealand, Brazil, Mexico, India, Malaysia, Vietnam and Indonesia. The experts shared their experience in their respective countries. The were about 100 participants

I liked the examples given by the New Zealand on @energywise home and @energywise business. I also learnt about Singapore E2 initiative, green building technology master plan.

In my opinion, the organizer should look into the following improvements for organizing future conference:
  • Increase the number of participants as the Auditorium was only half full
  • To have a bigger screen for the projection as the screen used was too small
  • Improve the sound system. The quality of the sound system was not acceptable
  • To have a feedback form to gather the comments /suggestions

Apparently the public is not well educated in energy use resulting in the poor attendance. Concerted effort must be highlighted by all sectors of the population towards this goal namely through the newspapers, TV, publications and other means, otherwise future conferences would attract only luke-warmed response from the public.
