IMPROVEMENT RECORDS 改善记录

I was working for Singapore Technologies Kinetics for almost 20 years. It was good a good company. The company adopted a continuous improvement culture where all employees must make suggestions for improvement.

The number of suggestion for staff to submit kept increasing. It was an uphill task. Every month, the suggestion scheme committee meets to review the results. They must find ways and means to achieve the targets. I remembered when I left the company in 2002, the targets were an average of six suggestions per staff per year and 100% participation rate.

I had no problem in achieving the targets. The picture above shown my threes year suggestion records: an average 11 suggestions per year with 100% implementation rate.

Company that promotes the corporate culture of continuous improvement is most likely to succeed. Take for example Toyota which exported only one model (Corolla) in the early sixties and through continuous improvement system, participated by all levels of their management and workers, has now become nearly the top car manufacturer of the world. Its staff suggestion scheme is a model for other Japanese companies to emulate.
