Advertisement 广告 Iklan

When some one run a business, he or she needs to advertise or promote the services or products. They are many ways to do it depending on your budget.

I saw this big notice board at Ang Mo Kia . It was full of flyers and small slip of papers (see photos).

I am wondering whether is it a good idea to advertise in this way ? It is effective? The answer probably yes, other wise why people bother to do it. The other reason is because it is free.

What is the best way to advertise really need some thinking .

This is obviously a poor way to advertise. Then why does it attract so many users? The main reason I can think of is that people need not pay for such usuage. They hope that potential clients could accidentally find the their advertisements by luck, but I must say the chance is rather slim. On the other hand, a cheaper way like handout of brochures is quite popular particularly to potential customers traveling near to their shops or shopping malls nearby, luring them there, but still cost is still involved. Another more eye-catching way is to put banners across railings advertising the location of their business, but it is important to note that such advertisement is not allowed by the authority, but the users hope that the govt would close 'one eye' to such displays.

My guess is that there is no ownership of the noticeboard - it is just a free service provided by the supermarket.

To improve the effectiveness, they should classify the ads, hence the term Classified Ads found in the Straits Times. Interested buyers can then zoom in to what they are looking for and find the sellers faster. In the present state, buyers will very likely miss spotting what they are looking for.
