HAIRSTYLE 发型 GUNTING RAMBUT

I was having my haircut at my neighbour hood barber shop last Sunday. I over heard a heat argument between the barber and one of the customer.

The customer was very unhappy with the barber because he felt that the barber did not give him a “flat top” haircut.

The customer said, he asked whether the barber can do the hair style. The barber replied yes. However, after the job was done, it looked more like a “durian thorn” hairstyle instead.

The customer made his payment at first, subsequently he came back and said some has confirmed that his haircut was not “flat top”, he claimed his money back from the barber.

I felt it was a communication problem. One way to solve the problem is to provide the pictures of hairstyle so that there will be no misunderstanding. It is a simple solution to solve the problem. I got the above pictures from Gracie's Beauty Shop, Inc website.

Usually we can find photos of various hair-styles displayed in a barber shop. You are right to point out that in this instance there may a miscommunication problem, but it could also that the barber didn't pay much attention to his customer's request. It is surprising to note that the customer didn't make any objection while the barber was cutting his hairs, noticing the the wrong style, and only asking for a reimbursement after he left the shop. If I were the customer, I would not ask back the payment, knowing that I played a part in the miscommunication. Flat-top hair-style is so common in Malay barber hair saloon that the barber usually doesn't need to refer to those displayed photos.
