NO THROUGH ROAD

I spotted two no through signs. I found them quite funny. One says no through road in 300 m, the other indicated no through road in 100 m.

My point here is are the distance necessary? As far as no through road is concern, you don't have to tell the motorist how far it is going to be . They enter at there own wish.

I think the two 'no through road' signs
are put up for certain reasons.

1 To tell motorists that they are going towards a wrong direction and not to proceed further, therefore saving a little fuel (by the mileage indication) and frustration.

2 To let motorists feel that the authority is caring and attentive to even small traffic consideration. Furthermore, the sign could be quite useful to a heavy vehicle losing its way and ended up at the end of a no through road, resulted in having difficulty to turn around for exit.

3 One of the kaizan principles, expounds that to do little things can sometimes prevent resolve many difficulties or even prevent a hidden danger from happening. Who knows, a speeding vehicle, particularly a heavy one, could result in a nasty accident, if it unknowingly speeds through a 'no through road'. So the authority has a good intention by putting up this sign, basing on the logic - 'better to be safe than sorry'.
