THREE WHEELS CAR 三轮环保车 Kereta Rodatiga

My paper reported that Aptera, an American company has invented a three wheels car (see above newspaper cutting). It was a hybrid car. The petrol consumption for the car is one liter per 100 kilometres. The cost of the car is US$30K. The article did not mention how fast the car can travel.
The car is available end of the year. It was an environment friendly product. Looking at the sky- high petrol price, I am sure some people would consider buying one.

I have seen this new 3-wheel car before in the internet. It has a new-age tech look, and I believe it is a two seater. I dare to make a prediction that it would not be well received by local people. The reasons are:

1 At the cost of US30K one can buy a small China or Korean 4 seater car at a lightly higher price, but able to accomodate more family members, probably 2 young children, whereas a 2 seaters can only take in the husband and his wife.

2 Conservative Singaporeans may find the space-age look too modern for their liking.

3 Status wise, our locals may associate 3 wheelers with a tricyle, hence loss of face when driving one despite of the fact that this vehicle is more thrifty in petrol consumption.

4 Because of its uniqueness the govt may have difficulty in levying road tax, especially if the model is powered by electricity and not petrol.

All in all, I am not optimistic that it could sell well in Singapore.
