CAR PARKING TIMER AT TAIWAN

I saw the car parking timer at Taiwan (see photos). It required a credit card to process your parking fee manually. You pay when you park.

I think it was a fairer system as compared to Singapore parking fee systems.

In Singapore, you paid for the whole parking coupon booklet, top-up your cash card irrespective of whether you use it or not.

In the movie "Money Not Enough 2", it said the Singapore government not "collecting" the money but "sucking" the money from its people.

I agree that taiwan parking system using credit card is fairer and better than our coupon system. However using the credit card system may not be user-friendly to older and less sophisticated folk. Our latest automated electronic parking systems at some new shopping malls is far superior to the many other systems. It is able to register every car entry and deducts the exact amount, apportioned to the hours or mins parked there, and when the car leaves the mall, it automatically deducts the apportion amount through the cash card placed inside the vehicle. Parking is therefore made effortless to the driver. Furthermore available carpark slot in this new high tech carpark is indicated by a lighted green signal bulb hung directly above it, and a red lighted bulb showing that the slot is occupied. People normally do not mind govt collecting more revenue, if money collected is accountable and spent wisely for the benefit of the country but not otherwise.
