I read from the China Press (中国报) , A Malaysia Chinese newspaper regarding how the Chinese celebrated the CNY in China as well as Malaysia. It was through Chinese Calligraphy. See newspaper cutting.
If the school can do the same, it will arouse the interest of learning Chinese. However, I was not able to implement the idea. What I can do was just do it for my class. But the impact was small.

Newspaper is called a mass media meaning that its news is able to reach a large number of people, in this case the chinese population. So it is not possible for single person like you to promote chinese calligraphy like that of schools, not to mention able to compete with that of a newspaper. However a some effort on your part to foster interest in chinese calligraphy to young students could go a long way.
