TEACHING CHINESE

I spent about 15 minutes showing my students how to hold the Chinese writing brush. How to write Chinese character using the brush. I also wanted them to think about a Chinese word and write the word.

My main objective was to let them know writing Chinese character is an art that required constant practise.

They all wanted to have more time. However, due to time constraint. I needed to stop the class.

From the picture shown, they were enjoying the lesson.

Teaching the basics whether brush writing or calligraphy to the students is very important without which they cannot proceed further in this fine art. As for lack of time, students should be encouraged to practise their brush technique at home whenever they have the time. I believe without sufficient motivatation and encouragement, these childrean may gradually lose interest and would give up pursuing this art eventually.
