YANG SHENG , THE CHINESE WAY TO WELLNESS 中华养生

I attended the opening ceremony of Speak Mandarin Campaign at National Library Board (NLB) yesterday. The theme for this year was called Yang Sheng, The Chinese Way to Wellness. The Guest of Honor was Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan.

Khaw was trilingual. In his speech, he talked about some famous Chinese quotations. There was no way to translate them into English as the essence will be lost. Below were the examples quoted by Khaw:

枯藤老树昏鸦,小桥流水人家
人生自古谁无死,留求丹心照汉青
怒发冲冠

Yes, Chinese has a long history and rich in its culture. There were a lot a good things on wellness especially the Tradition Chinese Medicine (TCM) . Dr Hong Hai has switched his career from University Professor to become a qualified TCM. His talk on Science and Philosophy in Health was very enlightening.

Prof Lu Zhao Lin from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine talked about Mind Over Body- The Chinese Way of Yang Sheng was also very interesting

However, If the speakers can insert some photos in the power point slides, it will be make their presentations more effective. Any way, I have benefited from all the talks.

TCM practice has a long history of thousands of years. Therefore it is very useful to acquire knowledge of TCM and its healing system, but beware the malpractices of some questionable physicians and fake herbs on sale in the markets.
