CATARATS 白内障

I went for my cataracts treatments on 28 April and 12 May at National University Hospital (NUH). I was given 14 days hospitalisation leave and 21 days leave respectively for the two treatments. The cost was not cheap. luckily I have medisave and medishield to defray 50% the expenses.

Before I went for my treatment, I read a news at the Wen Bao concerning cataracts treatment at NUH. It was very informative ( see top picture newspaper cutting)

When I went to NUH, the doctor featured in the newspaper was my doctor. He was very professional in his work.

At NUH, there were also brochure explaining what is Cataract, the causes, the symptoms and treatment. To me the information was very useful (see second picture).

After my treatments, I was given clear advice in English and Chinese. Finally, there was also customer feedback form provided.

As a whole, I am pleased with the service. The only observation was the improvements of Chinese translation of the discharge advice. The following points were missing :
  • diet, no restriction to food
  • patient may go for a walk
  • avoid getting soap and water in your eyes

Pehsk - I do not know that you have cataracts and thinkI that your eyesight is rather good. I too went to TTSH for an eye check and was also told that I have cataracts in my left eye but at the moment not suitable for surgical removal until the time is ripe to do so.

Dear Zen,
Thanks for the comments.
I have gone to three places before I selected NUH. It will be good to compare the services before making a decision to do the surgry.

Peh. There is a typo error in your title. I think I learn some new Chinese words/terms from your blog.
