IMPROVEMENT ON TV SET

I bought a 32- inch television set five years ago. It costs me two thousand and three hundred dollars. The set was bulky and heavy (see top two photos).
Recently the TV set gave problems. The repair man said to repair the TV, it will cost $400 . He advised me to buy a new one.

A new LCD 37- inch TV costs one thousand one hundred dollars. It come with five years warranty See photo 3 and 4.

The benefits of buying a new TV set were so significant. Thanks to the TV manufactures who initiated the continuous improvement programmes.

With the advancement of technological break-through, manufacturing companies are able to miniaturize their products making them smaller, better, lighter, more appealing, easy to operate and cheaper at the same time through sale of volume. However, they are smart to make sure that their products have a limited lifespan which they
backup with a service guarantee. When the guarantee period expires, say about in five years, and repair is at the purchaser own expense. When the repair cost becomes costly, the customer would rather buy a new set. In actual fact the company is one step ahead of the customer and yet the customer does not realise it, feeling happy to acquire a new set. In this case the manufacturer practising continuous change benefit them more than the customer.

Not only that, but LCD tv also emits less harmful radiation than the cathode ray tubes.

The reason why big companies have an edge over others is that they have enormous money-spending power to engage R&D specialists, skill people all round, to create and innovate products ahead of their less rich competitors, muscling them out, if possible, from the market place. These products though win-win and beneficial to both the manufacturers as well as to the customers, but at the end of the day, big companies always have the upper hand.
