CORPORATE GIFT

I attended a job fair yesterday. It attracted 700 people. There were write- up on to day's newspapers regarding the fair.

Every participant was given a corporate gift. It came with three things:

  • A small plastic bag
  • The company brochure
  • A note book

I found the note book was very useful. It came with a calendar, writing pad, past- up slip and a small pen (See photos)

Thanks to the company for giving away such a innovative item.

Small gifts or souvenirs are good gesture of appreciation and can give a good impression on the organisers. The sizeable crowd of 700 which turned up means that the enonomic situation of the country is not good. Hence it is a good reminder to us to spend our money wisely irrespective whether we have jobs or not. Currently people are quite wasteful in their daily life. For example I use to see young people ordering excess food, consuming small portions of tnem leaving the rest to waste. Our MM used to say not everyday is a sunny day. Bad weather can set on us any time - be prepared.

Yes Zen. We should always be prepared for the bad weather that comes our way. In fact, with the economic crunch facing different countries, i think many of us have already started taking cover. However, to evade extra expenses people have started cutting down on corporate gifts. I don't think thats justifiable. In this time of instability, we should make our clients feel that our business is stable. So, all of a sudden if we stop the gifts, clients are bound to think that something is seriously wrong with the company. On the flip side, if we give a unique and useful gift during this time, it will definitely catch the attention of the client. Like we thought of the iPod, since we were also getting it at a good price from www.ipodyourlife.co.in/make_it.aspx I think it must have created a buzz across our clients. What do you say?

Lael Trent - I do agree with your views. Frankly speaking, no company likes to cut down on corporate gifts to loyal customers but with the current credit crunch, meaning that cash flow is a serious problem especially to less cash-rich companies, hence they do not have much choice, except to lighten their 'belts'. It is like an airplane which has a failed engine and flying only with the other one, it has to jettison all the unwanted items (except the passengers) so as to lighten the load and keeps the plane afloat.
