I attended a presentation on How to Prevent Fall at Home at one of the hospital yesterday. The presenter shown us a falls-free model flat.

I found it was a useful session for those who had elderly relatives at home. There were 18 home environment hazards. Each will given advice and tips to solve the hazards.

Above were some of the photos I took.

How to prevent elderly people from falling and injured themselves by the hospital staff is useful and commendable. Of course if the elderly can afford to install high tech safety devices that would be the most ideal. For practical purposes, those who cannot afford these costly gadgets should not worry. I think placing anti-slip mats in wet area is equally effective. Doing some simple balancing yoga-like exercises like standing on one leg alternatively really help older folks to be more stable in their movements but if the exercises are too difficult for them - don't try them for their own safety.
