PEH CLAN ASSOCIATION

I attended the Peh Clan Association 75th Anniversary Dinner on 16 Nov 2008 at one of the famous convention centre. There were more than one thousand participants. Half of them were from oversea countries such as Malaysia, China, Taiwan, Korea, Myamar and Indonesia.

I had one suggestion for the association was to have an E mail address. The official told me that they were in the process of setting up. In addition, a website will also be created.

It was not easy to organize this type of convention. I wanted to thank the committee for their hard work and commitment. It was a job well done.

The next convention will be held at Taipei in 2 to 3 years times. The flag was handed over to their representatives.

Judging from the large turnout, the enthusiasm, beautiful decorations, clan members seem to be very supportive for their grouping. Members from ASEAN, Taiwan and China are mentioned but what about Hongkong, Macau, Japan and Eastern Russia? If these absentee components are included, the grouping would appear like APEC. I am not surprised there are many Pehs (Peks, Pecks, Pais or equivalents) residing all over the world. I agree that it is not easy to manage a larger grouping, but who knows one day it may happen. I note with interest that some large clans in Singapore, especially those affiliated to Hokkien Huay Kuan, are able to organise conventions in Singapore for their respective groupings on an large international scale.
